Pulse~LINK Signs With Nagase for UWB Distribution in Japan

CWave(TM) Technology Prepared for Japan's UWB Regulations Above 7GHz

Carlsbad, CA—May 20, 2006 - Pulse~LINK, Inc., developer of high data rate Ultra Wideband (UWB) communications technologies, announced today that it has signed with Nagase & Co, Ltd., a leading technology oriented distribution and marketing company based in Tokyo, as its official distributor for Japan.

Pulse~LINK recently launched its CWave® Gigabit UWB chipset for whole-home distribution of HDTV content, high quality multi-channel audio and high-speed data across in-home coax and wireless networks. The company welcomes the Japanese Government's proposed regulations authorizing UWB wireless technology, stating that its CWave® chipset will support the intended Japanese spectrum mask, including bands from 7.25 to 10.6 GHz. "Nagase has been consulting with us for over a year to help bring our UWB technology to Japan," stated Paul Dillon, Pulse~LINK VP Business Development. "Based on Nagase's excellent support, we have been able to assess the needs and concerns of the major CE companies and engineer a product that will meet their requirements. Pulse~LINK is delighted to bring this highly professional and well respected company on board as our official distributor for Japan."

In 2005, the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications proposed specifications highlighting two fundamental bands of UWB operation, the first from 3.1 to 4.8GHz and the second from 7.25 to 10.6GHz. Pulse~LINK currently has demonstrable wireless UWB radios, based on their CWave® platform, operating within both of these bands. "While we continue to express the benefits of UWB wireless operations at lower frequencies, there have been discussions for some time that Japan and Europe may regulate UWB wireless operations at frequency bands above 6GHz. We have been designing our product in anticipation of this higher band requirement and have the technology to demonstrate it today," states John Santhoff, Pulse~LINK CTO.

"The Asian market will play a significant role in the introduction of UWB on a global level," states Takeshi Kaneko, Manager of Sales 2nd Section Communication & Imaging System Division. "CE companies here have been in serious discussions with us about Pulse~LINK for some time because of their superior performance and ability to demonstrate UWB applications that no others can achieve. This strong momentum is growing rapidly with the availability of Pulse~LINK's CWave® chipset."

CWave® provides a foundation for whole-home networking with up to Gigabit data rates and guaranteed quality of service. Benefits and applications include the ability to eliminate the confusion of connector wires behind today's home entertainment centers and share high-quality content throughout the entire home. The ability to support multiple simultaneous HDTV streams from room to room with "Trick-play" (for pause, fast-forward and fast-rewind capabilities) can require hundreds of Megabits of throughput and has not been achieved by any other coax or wireless networking technology.
