Pulse~LINK Selects Appairent Technologies for Joint Development of its Media Access Control
SAN DIEGO, Calif., November 06, 2003 - Pulse~LINK Inc. and Appairent Technologies, Inc. announced today an agreement to jointly develop a Media Access Control (MAC) for Ultra Wideband Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) communications.
Under the agreement, Appairent Technologies will license its existing 802.15.3 MAC to Pulse~LINK, as well as collaborate and provide engineering support for additional customization to meet the unique requirements of Pulse~LINK and its customers. Pulse~LINK, a leading developer of Ultra Wideband (UWB) wireless and wired communication systems, has agreements to supply its technology for highly secure, high performance next generation WLAN applications.
Pulse~LINK is the only UWB company that is developing an FCC compliant UWB system with 100-meter WLAN transmission ranges. In addition to Pulse~LINK's proprietary WLAN technology, both Pulse~LINK and Appairent Technologies are active voting members of the IEEE 802.15.3a standards group for UWB sub-10 Meter Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) applications.
